Wally Lake Fest 2015: Live Music and Activities all Weekend Long

 

Hawley, PA. August 17, 2015. It’s nearly here. Wally Lake Fest is just days away and people are anticipating three days of non-stop fun and adventure.

The festival is one of the biggest events in the Pocono Mountains. It prolongs summer fun before back to school and the busy Labor Day holiday weekend.

 If you love live music, you won’t want to miss what’s planned this year. The 6th annual festival kicks off on Friday, August 28th with an evening of music and entertainment around the lake and in downtown Hawley.

The lakeside restaurants will have music and of all genres, food and fun. Immerse yourself in the Hawaiian spirit during Ehrhardt’s Pub’s Lakeside Luau from 4 to 6 p.m. with Hawaiian décor, festive appetizers and drink specials. The band The Quake will rock out in the pub from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. The Hawaiian theme will last all night, so be sure to stop in anytime. People can also head over to the Boat House Restaurant for an Evening Concert Series with Dave McBride on the deck and Erin McClelland Duo in the bar.

In Hawley, from 6 to 10 p.m., the Settlers Inn’s on Main Avenue is featuring their popular Jazz on the Deck. There will be live jazz music with Spencer and Nancy Reed Quartet performing from 6 to 9 p.m Reservations are strongly suggested for the meal, which includes a special BBQ menu buffet for $39. Cocktail service is available in the garden. There is no cover charge for the music. Beginning at 8 p.m. at the Cocoon Coffee House, Harmony Presents brings you Comedy Night featuring Kate Wolff. Doors open at 7:45. In addition, at 8 p.m., The Ritz Company Playhouse on Keystone Street is showing “Arsenic & Old Lace,” a classic comedy.

Lake Wallenpaupack is a popular attraction and each season it draws numerous people to the Lake Region. The sparkling waters provide an endless amount of water activities from swimming to parasailing and boating to fishing. But these are not the only activities that can be done on the lake.

You can also listen to live music right ON the water. That’s right—Wallypalooza, formerly known as Battle of the Bands, takes place on Saturday August 29th. Two bands will perform throughout the day on a floating stage in front of the Lake Wallenpaupack Visitors Center and the Tafton Dike.  From 11:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., local favorites Eric Rudy & Friends and Barely Covered bring the music out of the restaurants and pubs and onto the lake: the source of the celebration. This free event allows people to listen to live music as they participate in the festivities happening around the lake.

The entertainment continues throughout Saturday evening in downtown Hawley with a Car Cruise in the Dime Bank parking area and Keystone Street from 5 to 9 p.m. featuring DJ Ricky Z.  From 6 to 7 p.m., students from the Wallenpaupack High School Marching Band entertain in the AMSkier Insurance Agency gazebo during the popular Ice Cream Social with homemade ice cream provided by Coutts. Beginning at 8 p.m. inside the Boiler Room in the Hawley Silk Mill, Harmony Presents is excited to welcome the Matt Nakoa Trio, a captivating artist whose style is comparable to the lush romanticism of Josh Groban. This intimate performance is $15 to $20 and doors open at 7:45 p.m. Visit www.silkmillharmony.com to purchase advance tickets. Cocoon Coffee House caters wine, beer and snacks at the show. Also on Saturday, the Ritz is showing their comedy at 8 p.m. and the band Harkland plays in Ehrhardt’s Pub from 9 p.m. to midnight.

As the festival trickles to an end on Sunday, August 30th, the live entertainment still continues at:

Palmyra Township Beach from noon to 6 p.m. with Rock School—Making Music Matter for Kids with live music from Rock School’s performing arts students. Enjoy picnicking, swimming, barbeques, raffles music lesson giveaways and fun crafts for kids.

Glass—Wine. Bar. Kitchen at Ledges Hotel from 2 to 5 p.m. and 5:30 to 9 p.m. with Blues, Brews & BBQ featuring Merchants of Groove. No cover charge for music but the BBQ and local craft beer samples are $32.50 per person. Reservations are recommended. (570) 226-1337

To make it possible for people to get the most out of their Wally Lake Fest experience, free shuttle buses will run on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. So park your car once and take free shuttles all day.
